KRG ‘bars Salih Muslim at the border’

25.10.2013 – KURDISTAN TRIBUNE – The Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) has prevented Salih Muslim, co-leader of the Syrian Kurdish PYD, from entering the south of Kurdistan, according to reports.

Salih Muslim had been waiting at the border to go and attend a memorial to his son who died recently in fighting with jihadists. However he has not been allowed to cross. He defended KRG president Masud Barzani, saying the decision has nothing to do with him but was ”the work of the Kurdistan Democrat Party’s old board’’ and a political decision aimed at trying to reduce the PYD’s influence in negotiations over the future of Syria/western Kurdistan. “They’re up to something. This coalition (of pro-KDP parties) is standing against a Kurdish union,’’ he said.
