KCK Executive Council calls on Kurdish people to defend gains

ANF – BEHDINAN 02.04.2014 – The KCK (Kurdistan Communities Union) Executive Council has issued a written statement saying the Kurdish people’s struggle to take possession of their votes in places such as Ceylanpınar, Ahlat, Kağızman, Birecik, Viranşehir and Ağrı, is a democratic struggle.

The KCK statement called on the Kurdish people to maintain their struggle, adding: “The municipalities in places the AKP is trying to take by force will have absolutely no legitimacy in the eyes of our people.” The KCK Executive Council statement referred to attempts to change the results in centres won by the BDP, saying: “The AKP’s attacks and attempts to ignore the democratic will of our people is not just directed at the centres of resistance like Ceylanpınar and Viranşehir, but at the entire people of Kurdistan. We call on our people to respond to these attacks by the AKP with national unity and the spirit of freedom”.
