Karayilan asks for joint Peshmerga-PKK force in Kirkuk

MESOP : WISHING FOR A LITTLE TAKE OVER – FOR TO GET THEIR PIECE OF THE CAKE

19-7-2014 – Kurdpress – The chief of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) ground forces Murat Karayilan asked for the establishment of a joint force with Peshmerga forces in Iraqi northern cities of Kirkuk and Shengal, Firat news said.

Writing two letters to Iraqi President and the Leader of Patriotic Union of Kurdistan Jalal Talabani and Massoud Barzani, Kurdistan Region President and Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) Leader, Karayilan said the situation in the Middle East is very instable. He said the presence of the militants of the Islamic State of Iraq and Sham (ISIS) in Mosul and other Iraqi regions is very dangerous, asking for the formation of a joint force to protect Kirkuk and Shengal. A PKK official had earlier called for formation of the joint force but KDP officials said Peshmerga is able to protect the region and does not need any helps. The PKK jailed leader Abdullah Ocalan has recently sent a letter to Barzani and Talabani and asked them to hold long-deferred Kurdish National congress as soon as possible.
