Kosrat Rasul threatens to resign from PUK leading council –  28-1-2014 MESOP – Kosrat Rasul, the first Deputy Leader of Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), a former co- ruling party in Kurdistan Region, threatened to resign from his post if the 4th congress of the party is postponed.

Rasul has warned he would resign from PUK leading council if the congress is not held in due date, Rudaw reported. Rasul has stated he would then remain a casual member of the party, a high- ranking official told the daily on the condition of anonymity, adding that the warning is so serious that a number of PUK officials have warned Rasul about the outcome of his decision. People are free in their decisions but PUK political office will consider the issue if it receives any official request, a member of the party’s political office, Adnan Mufti said. The party’s plenum decided in October last year to hold its fourth congress on January 31.
