Iran bombs Kurdistan Region border

23.06.2014 – Karim Simko – BasNews, Erbil – On Monday Iranian forces bombed the Kurdistan Region border in the area of Sidakan, in Northeastern of Erbil the Capital of Kurdistan.

A security source from the border told BasNews that Iranian forces bombed Sidakan areas, sparking fear in the local residents. The Mayor of Sidakan, Nashwan Saeed refused reports that the area that was bombed is inhabited. “On Monday, Iranian forces bombed the area, but it caused no damage,’  said Saeed. ‘The area is mostly mountains and located in the Kurdistan Region border. So far we do not know the reason behind the attacks, whether it is due to the approach of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) in the border or whether it was something else,” Added Saeed.
