High level delegation from Iraqi Kurdistan leaves for US
April 7, 2013 – ERBIL-Hewlêr: KRG News – A high level Kurdish delegation from Iraqi Kurdistan region leaves for the United States on Sunday to meet with senior US officials, the Kurdistan presidency website reported. In a statement to the press on Saturday, Kurdistan Region’s Minister of Natural Resources, Ashti Hawrami, said that a high level Kurdish delegation will visit Washington on Sunday to exchange views over issues related Iraq and the area.
The delegation consists of Head of the Kurdistan’s Presidency Office, Fuad Hussein, Head of the off of Joint Coordination and Follow-up, at the Region’s Cabinet and Minister of Natural Resources, Ashti Hawrami, the Head of the Region’s Foreign Relations Department, Falah Mustafa and Qubad Talabani, Kurdistan govt representative in the US.
Ali Balo spokesman of KRG Ministry of Natural Resources in a statement said that the delegate would meet with the American officials regarding oil policies of KRG and its relations with Turkey and Baghdad in terms of oil contracts. Kurdistan Region has attracted the attention of oil companies to invest in Kurdistan, over which Baghdad has grown concerns. The delegation will also to meet the U.S. senior officials in the White House and the Departments of State and Defense, as well as to visit congressional and Senate.
