Gülen Movement Director about PKK & Kurds

The Kurds know us well; they don’t want us to leave

27.02.2014 – Hemin Khoshnaw – BasNews, Erbil –  (..) Gülen Movement-affiliated Fezalar Educational Institution Director says they are not worried of this happening in the Kurdish capital, Erbil. Fezalar Educational Institute (Ishik College) Director in Erbil, Talib Buyuk, spoke to BasNews: “we established this educational institution in 1994. The Kurdistan Region was in bad political, social and economical conditions from 1994 to 2003 and during this time we provided free education to Kurdish people, they know us well.”

Buyuk explained that despite the PM’s orders, the Turkish consul in Erbil has not attempted to close the institutions.

“The corruption scandal was Turkey’s people telling Erdoğan’s government to clean up the government, but we are educational institution and we don’t understand why the Turkish government is attacking us,” said Buyuk.  “They have spread rumors, claiming that we are terrorist leaders and drug dealers, I don’t think Kurdish people will be deceived by these unrealistic words since we have been here for some 20 years” added Buyuk.

Buyuk refrained from commenting on reports that their institutions aim to educate the sons and daughters of Kurdish officials in order to foster relationships with the Kurdistan Region.

The institutions have eight thousand students in Erbil, who are accepted into the school following a set of exams. There is no differentiation between Kurdish officials and other people’s children; it is all based on the education rules. He also noted that: “in 2008, we held a big conference about the Kurdish issue in Turkey. In that day, almost two thousand reports were published about Kurdistan and 99% of them were positive.” In regards to the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) stance between Gülen and Erdoğan conflict, he believes that although the PKK claims to be neutral in the conflict they do in fact support the government. Gülen’s projects in the Kurdistan Region date back to 1994. He currently owns schools, universities and media centers operating in Erbil, Sulaimaniyah, Dohuk and Kirkuk. – http://www.basnews.com/en/News/Details/Gulen-Movement-Director–the-Kurds-know-us-well–they-don-t-want-us-to-leave-/13890
