Iran Headlines: Nouri al-Maliki & Negotiating with the United States

Mehr News Agency reports that during Friday prayers in Tehran, prayer leader Mohammad Emami Kashani said, “If we don’t defend our religious and holy sites in Iraq, we will have lost everything.”

National Iranian Oil Company’s (NIOC) Exploration Director, Hormuz Ghalavand told Tasnim News Agency, “A German and Chinese private company will help us develop and produce shale reserves in the Lorestan Province.”

ISNA reports that senior foreign affairs advisor to the Supreme Leader Ali Akbar Velayati told the German representative of the P5+1, “In our view, the Iraqi government has the power to defeat the terrorists, and Mr. (Nouri al) Maliki will come out stronger than before and continue to run the country.”   

In an interview with Fars News Agency, Hossein Amir Abdollahian, deputy foreign minister for Arab and African affairs, denied reports that Iran’s Quds Force had sent two battalions into Iraq.

Khabar Online reports that during his Friday prayer sermon in Mashhad, prayer leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ahmad Alam Alhoda said, “Our nuclear negotiators should know that negotiating and solving (our) issues with the United States isn’t a simple act because they want to overthrow (our) Islamic movement.”

According to Mehr News Agency, the Deputy Managing Director of Iran’s National Petrochemical Company (NPC) Mohammad Hassan Peyvandi told the European representatives of the P5+1 countries, “The signing of ‘win-‘win’ contracts with foreign petrochemical companies relies on a final agreement between Iran and the P5 +1.”
