EAST KURDISTAN (IRAN) Kurdish Islamic Leader Visits Iran, Praises Tehran Role in KRG – Ali Bapir meets with Iranian senior officials
Basnews – 06.08.2015 13:01 – TEHRAN – A Kurdish Islamic party head has visited Iran to meet with government officials and discuss recent developments in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region.
Ali Bapir, the leader of the Kurdistan Islamic Group, met with Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani and Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, the Iranian deputy foreign minister for Arab and African affairs, according to local media. Hossein Amir-Abdollahian called for the unity of the Iraq and the political involvement of all Iraqi groups in the fight against terrorism.
Amir-Abdollahian urged all Iraqi tribes and ethnic groups to involve themselves in the political process, according to the country’s constitution, to defend the interests of Iraq. Iran was the first country to come to the aid of the Iraqi government and the Kurdistan Region in the fight against the IS, Amir-Abdollahian claimed. Bapir agreed that unity among Iraqi tribes and ethnic groups will contribute to defeating IS.The leader of the Kurdistan Islamic Group also highlighted the important role of Iran in the Muslim world, calling for more efforts by Iran to strengthen unity and cooperation between Muslim nations.Separately, Bapir met with Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani.Larijani said during the meeting that Iran has always stood by the Iraqi people and supports Iraq’s territorial integrity, national sovereignty and unity. Bapir, in turn, acknowledged the support of the Iranian nation for the Iraqi people and people in Iraq’s Kurdistan Region.
