BasNews 30-3-2014 – A former military commander of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) believes establishing an autonomous Kurdish region in Turkey is impossible for the Kurds and added ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) is the only powerful party to rule the country at the present time.

Speaking with Rudaw in Erbil, Nezamaddin Tas said neither laws nor political situation in Turkey will allow the Kurds to establish a Kurdish region, stressing that even if PM Recep Tayyip Erdogan allow the Kurds to have an autonomous region his government will be removed in months. He went on to say that some conventions and European Union special laws make it possible for Turkey Kurds to increase their regional authorities but the authority will not be enough to establish an autonomous region. Tas, a former PKK commander who left the party in 2004 due to ideological disputes with the PKK, ultimately concluded that Erdogan is the only powerful person to rule the country and none of the opposition parties are able to replace the ruling party.
