Beşikçi to visit Kurdistan Region & Barzani Foundation

25.05.2014 – Aryan Tahseen – BasNews, Erbil – Turkish scholar and writer Ismail Beşikçi is scheduled to be in Erbil this week to participate in a series of academic events.

Ibrahim Samin, a spokesperson for the Barzani Foundation, told BasNews that Beşikçi will spend one week in the Kurdistan Region and will participate in a number of seminars and forums. During his visit, Beşikçi, known for his pro-Kurdish stance, will visit and hold seminars at Duhok, Erbil, Suliaymaniyah and Soran Universities. Furthermore, Salahaddin University in Erbil will present Beşikçi with an honorary certificate of the university. Beşikçi’s visit to Kurdistan is organized by the Barzani Foundation. 75-year-old Beşikçi served 17 years in prison on charges of spreading propaganda and writing about the Kurdish population in Turkey.
