Basque youths staged solidarity hunger strike with PKK inmates

NAVAR, Basque Country, –  Basque youth staged a hunger strike in solidarity with the Kurdish political prisoners who launched a hunger strike in 12 September entering their 57th day today. Added to our solidarity with the hunger strike sustained by the PKK and PAJK prisoners, we send our greetings to the resistance of Kurdistan, stated Jose Natke spokesman of Basque hunger strikers.

In a phone conversation to Firat News Agency Jose Natke said; “With the launching of our hunger strike we manifest our backing and send our greetings to the resistance of the Kurdish people.” “We want to say that our hearts are with you,” said Jose and continued; “we appreciate your resistance. I and few of my friends have been on solidarity hunger strike. Few more just joined today 7th November.”

Pointing to the resistance of Basque people for freedom and liberty he said that our campaigns are similar to that of Kurdistan. We are not unfamiliar with hunger strike. We have more than 700 political prisoners, reminded Jose, the last time 60 comrades of mine stayed on a hunger strike for 46 days and many of them ended as ailing.

At the end of his phone conversation Jose Natke said, our message to the PKK and PAJK prisoners is that you are not alone although we have hundreds of kilometre distance with you. We hope you attain your objectives.
