Bashar Assad sends letter to Kurds, asks for meeting with Kurdish leaders

11.9.2013 – Kurdpress – Syrian President Bashar al-Assad has sent a letter to Kurdish parties in his country in order to meet them in Damascus, Milliyet daily said in a report.

The Monday report said Syria Kurdish parliament deputy Omar Oseh has made a visit to Erbil and asked Kurdish parties to visit Damascus and discuss the country’s conflict with Assad. Meanwhile Welati net reported Oseh has held meetings with Kurdistan Region ruling parties of Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) and Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) and asked them to convince Syria Kurdish parties to meet Assad.

Talking to Rudaw TV, Oseh stressed the best way for Syrian Kurds to achieve their rights is neither by talking to the oppositions nor making agreement with the western countries but sitting at the negotiation table with Assad. Assad has personally announced his readiness to talk with Kurdistan Region officials and that he can officially invite Kurdistan Region President Massoud Barzani to Damascus
