ARABAŞLIK – PYD blocked road to stop Refugee crossings to Iraqi Kurdistan

The PYD, claiming to be the only representation of Kurdish people in Syria, is reportedly preventing Kurds from crossing over the Iraqi border to seek refuge in Iraqi Kurdistan.

After the PYD closed Zamalka region, which was used as the main route to Iraqi Kurdistan, Kurds had to go via a longer route in the Peshkhabour area in order to reach the country. Many Kurds reportedly walked dozens of kilometers to reach the Peshkhabour border gate. They were met by peshmarga forces and brought to the camps in Arbil by vehicles.
