Ahmet Turk warns Barzani over rift among Kurds
19.8.2013 – Kurdpress – Turkey pro-Kurdish Democratic Society Congress (DTK) co-chair Ahmet Turk warned Iraqi Kurdistan Region president Massoud Barzani over the eruption of possible clashes among Kurdish lines and groups, Ozgurgundem reported on Sunday.“I am not personally afraid of the attacks of Jabhat al-Nusra and Assad (Syrian president Bashar al-Assad) forces as possible clashes among Kurds against each other is much more hazardous,” Turk told Dicle News agency, warning that there are attempts to make Kurds fight against each other and have their rifts deepened.
It’s for some years that we are asking Turkey government to open its Kurdish regions’ borers to Syria and Iraq and make facilities to ease trade among Kurds but that’s unacceptable now to appeal Kurdistan Region to open its borders to Syrian Kurds, Turk added.“I warn and announce that Mr.Barzani should care and know that there are lines that are trying to make Kurds fight each other and we should prevent such an event,” he went on to say. Commenting on peace talks between Ankara government and the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), the DTK co-leader said Turkey’s failure to meet the demands of the Kurds in the upcoming months cannot mean making a quick decision and bring an end to the negotiations.
