MESOP NEWS UPDATE: Iraqi Militia Leader Visits Israel-Lebanon Border, Says Ready to Support Palestinians
Basnews English – 09/12/2017 – 14:32 – Middle East – ERBIL — A leader of Hashd al-Shaabi militia visited an area near the Israeli border with Lebanon and Syria, stressing that they are ready to support Palestinians after the US decision to move its embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.While visiting Fatima Gate, the former border crossing between Lebanon and Israel, Asaib Ahl al-Haq (AAH) leader Qais Al-Khazali said “we are ready to support the Palestinians.”
AAH is a major component of Hashd al-Shaabi Shi’ite militia.Khazali has also affirmed support for the Lebanese Hezbollah militia against Israel.The Shi’ite militia leader’s visit to the Lebanese-Palestine border came after the US decision to move its embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, a move which is firmly opposed by the Arab world. AAH leader has multiple times warned the US to withdraw its troops from Iraq or they will be targeted by the militias of Hashd al-Shaabi.
