There is no Iranian military advisor in Kurdistan Region: minister

The Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Peshmerga Minister Jabbar Yawar told Kurdprss that there is no Iranian military advisor in the region and the cooperation between the Kurdish forces and the Iranian military is restricted to health and medical issues.

He stated in the interview that he met Iranian Consul in Erbil, the capital of the region, Morteza Abadi and discussed medical and health issues with the Iranian official, adding that a group of 15 injured Peshmerga forces were sent to Iran and received treatment in the country.

Yawar further noted that a group of Iranian doctors were sent to a Peshmerga-affiliated hospital in Sulaimani, Kurdistan Region, and treated and healed a number of Peshmerga forces. The minister also denied the presence of any Iranian military advisors in the region and stated that there are only military advisors of those countries that are a part of the U.S.-led anti-IS coalition and Iran is not a member of the coalition and there is, therefore, no Iranian advisor in the region.

He further added that the ministry has prepared a plan to make reforms in the ministry with the aid of the U.S., Britain and Germany and it will be finalized by the ministry is a near future and then will be set into action.
