SOUTH KURDISTAN (IRAQ) – MESOP NEWS : BIG MOUTH ABADI !

15 March 2017 – MESOP  – Abadi says he won’t permit PKK attack on Turkey from Iraq

Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi said he will not permit an attack by the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) against Turkey to be launched from Iraqi territory, NRT reported. “The Iraqi government will not allow any interference in this regard [the Shingal security situation],” a statement from Abadi’s press office said after the premier’s phone call with his Turkish counterpart Binali Yildirim.

“Iraqi forces are close to the liberation of Nineveh and Mosul, and Turkey should withdraw all Turkish troops from Iraq,” Abadi said, as cited by the office.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said in November that Turkey would not allow Shingal to become another Qandil, adding Ankara intended to launch an offensive against the PKK in the Qandil Mountains. Tensions rose between Iraq and Turkey in October over the continued presence of Turkish forces in Bashiqa and elsewhere in northern Iraq, with each government summoning the other’s ambassador just as the U.S.-backed campaign to drive the Islamic State (IS) militant group out of Mosul was set to begin. www.mesop.de
