MESOP FOCUS : Abadi Excludes Shi’ite Militias & PKK from Tel Afar Operation: MP

Local people of the district had demanded the PM to not allow these forces enter Tel Afar 

ERBIL 4 Nov 2016 – BasNews –  Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi has decided to prevent the Shi’ite militias of Hashd al-Shaabi and guerrillas of Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) from entering Tel Afar district, according to a member of the Iraqi parliament.

“Abadi, in response to the local people of Tal Afar, has agreed to only include the Iraqi army, national police and counter-terrorism forces in a future operation to liberate the district,” MP Izzat Dawla said on Thursday. The decision, according to the MP, was made after a number of Tel Afar tribal leaders met with the prime minister to demand the exclusion of PKK Shi’ite militias from the offensive in order to prevent provocation of the sensitivities.MP Dawla also said Abadi has made it clear that PKK has illegally stationed in Iraq and his government is not dealing with the party. www.mesop.de
