NORTH KURDISTAN (TURKEY) MESOP “PKK”/HPG – WE ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR ALL IN THE AREA – BUT WE ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR OUR FAILED ACTIONS

HPG statement on the explosions in Amed and Merdin – HPG issued a written statement on the 2 explosions that had taken place in the Sur district of Amed and the Qoser district of Merdin on August 10.

Sunday, August 14, 2016 – BEHDİNAN – ANF – HPG issued a written statement on the 2 explosions that had taken place in the Sur district of Amed and the Qoser district of Merdin on August 10. In its statement, HPG announced that it opened an investigation on the two explosions and has been trying to clarify the details of the events.

HPG emphasized that its initial investigations shows that the explosion in Sur had nothing to do with the HPG and its forces in Amed, but the action may have been carried out by a local group in opposition to the policies of the Turkish state in Sur and Amed. HPG stated that an HPG unit carried out the action in Merdin’s Qoser district.

INVESTIGATION OPENED

HPG said that although it did not carry out the action in Sur, it was responsible for monitoring and controlling the local units in the region and both the action in Sur and the action in Qoser need to be criticized for their lack of organization. HPG announced that it opened an investigation into the explosions and will continue to maintain its serious approach to targeting only colonialist forces in order to prevent any damage to civilians.

In its statement, HPG also criticized the people that issued press statements in order to attack the Kurdish movement after the 2 explosions, and said that these people’s lack of criticism in the face of state forces’ massacres such as the recent burning of 20 villages in Amed’s Kulp, Lice and Silvan showed the frivolous approach of these people. HPG emphasized that a true civil society initiative should object to all forms of violence and inequality, and criticizing the mistakes of revolutionary groups while not objecting to the mistakes of colonialist forces only furthers the interest of these colonialist forces.

Lastly, HPG offered its condolences to the families of the civilians that lost their lives during the 2 explosions in Amed and Merdin. www.mesop.de
