PUK JUSTICE GOES MAD : Kurdish KNN TV manager & election candidate arrested in Iraqi Kurdistan
April 8, 2014 – KNN.net – SLÊMANÎ : The manager of the Kurdish KNN TV channel which belongs to Change (Gorran) movement has been detained in Serchinar district in Slêmanî [Sulaimaniyah] city, the independent Awene news reported.“The police detained the manager of Slêmanî based KNN TV satellite, Hoshiyar Abdullah after he revealed a case on the news channel about an official from the Iranian Kurdistan Democratic party KDPI aired two months ago,” the newspaper added.
Abdullah is also a candidate for Gorran list of the next election in Slêmanî province. Need to be mentioned that Hoshiyar Abdullah, has been arrested in 2011, and released by Slêmanî court on a bail after a lawsuit was filed against him by the former Water Resources Minister in the Iraqi government. KNN aired news, in October 2011, quoting a news agency about former minister Latif Rashid receiving more than $250.000 to take part in the FAO organization meeting and running for presidency of that UN body. The minister filed a lawsuit against Abdullah according to article 433 of the Iraqi penalties law which considers airing such new as defamation.
